Longhorns reach 3200gns at Worcester

Buyers from across the UK travelled to Worcester on Saturday for the Longhorn breed’s spring show and sale and weren’t disappointed by the quality of cattle on offer.

Heading up the trade at 3200gns was John Warner’s heifer Charnwood Licania. By Fishwick Discovery out of a Fishwick Optomist sired cow, this one sold to Rachel Heard, Welford, Northampton.

At 1900gns Philip and Lisa Bell sold Bonemill Frieda with her heifer calf at foot to J T Newton, Alne, York, and close behind at 1750gns was a senior heifer from Mr Warner which sold to I J Bayley, Rugeley, Staffordshire.

Next best was a 1650gns sale for John and Joshua Brigg when they sold Halloughton Timpany, also to Mr Bayley.

Averages; 12 cows and calves £1496.62, 3 in-calf cows £668.50, 13 senior heifers £1018.50, 14 junior heifers £861.75, 3 bulls £2082.50.
