More Countryside Live cattle and sheep results

Juding continues apace here in Harrogate at Countryside Live, with results coming thick and fast in the cattle and sheep sections.

Among the beef classes Keving Ludgate has just made a start on his first heifer class, having sorted through the Continental steer entries already.

Leading the way in the second British Blue sired class was Tecwyn Jones with May 2007 born steer Black Jack, this one tipped the scales at 584kg. Claiming second place was Phil Sellers with Big Bucks, a 586kg April 2007 born entry, while third place went to Steve Priestly’s Bobby, who weighed in at 584kg.

In the Charolais sired steer class, Neil Slack took top honours with Funky Monkey a 634kg July 2007 born entry, second went to F Jones and Sons with Gucci a May 2007 born 544kg entry, while third spot was claimed by Will Owen with Cracker Jack who went over the scales at 497kg.

The final steer class was for those by any other Continental sire and this one went to C Beale with her steer Bugg-a-Luggs a 588kg Blonde cross, second here was taken by L E Swales Simmental sired entry Ronaldo which went 453kg.

In the sheep section judge Steve Gibbons is pressing on well and had sorted the first three classes in quick time. In the first for native sired shortwool lambs under 80kg Messrs Allen took first and second places with their Suffolk crosses.

The second class for the lambs bred the same way, but over 81kg Messrs Allen again claimed first place with another pair of Suffolk crosses, while Prendwick and Rothill Fams took second and third places again with Suffolk crosses.

In the class for longwool sired lambs first place went to Messrs Brown with a pair of Mules, second to Messrs Allen with a duo of Mashams, while third prize went to J, K and M Dale again with a pair of Mules.

More judging results to come later…..
