National Sheep Association hunts for 12 young ambassadors

National Sheep Association (NSA) Next Generation is looking for 12 people to become ambassadors in 2018.

Successful applicants will be selected from across the UK and will take part in technical and personal development sessions throughout the year to help expand and develop their knowledge.

These will be made up of practical and tutorial-based sessions, covering everything from health inputs and cost analyses, to bespoke visits and farm walks on a range of different sheep farming systems.

Shortlisted applicants will be invited to a selection interview, via teleconference, Skype or FaceTime in early 2018.

Up to 12 applicants will be chosen for the NSA Next Generation Ambassador Group 2018. The organisation intends to select at least one applicant per NSA region.

Richard Taylor, an existing NSA Next Generation Ambassador, says: “I would urge anyone wanting to learn more about the industry alongside like-minded young people to apply for the NSA Next Generation Ambassador programme.

“It’s a brilliant opportunity and each session gives you so much to take home and think about in relation to your own flock, while giving you confidence to try new ideas.”

The 2018 group will be the fifth of its kind, after the initiative was launched in 2014. It is funded by the NSA regions and ram sales, with support from a number of delivery partners.

The deadline for applications is Sunday 17 December 2017.

Applications can be made via the NSA’s website or by contacting Hannah Park, NSA communications officer, on 01684 892 661 or 07807 237 982.
