Out of an entry of 10,630 breeding sheep, a pen of 10 lambs peaked at £780 at the annual Mule gimmer lamb sale, Kirkby Stephen, Cumbria.
The top pen and overall champions came from regular consigners Messrs Brown, Asby Hall, Appleby and were purchased by Mr Jackson, Bentham.
Taking the Reserve Overall Championship were another pen of lambs from local supporters Messrs Hayton, Asby Grange, Appleby, which went on to sell for £400 to Messrs Batty, Kendal.
Trade throughout was strong with an overall average up £1.82 on the year of £106.88, for 1,309 more sold. Good pens of strong tupping hoggs and the smallest running lambs were the strongest trade on the day and were more expensive than anticipated.
