New National Dairy Board chairman announced

Pembrokeshire farmer Mansel Raymond will replace Gwyn Jones as National Dairy Board chairman, the NFU has announced.

Mr Raymond farms 1200ha in partnership with his twin brother NFU deputy president Meurig. They have two dairy herds plus followers and a herd of beef cattle.

Vice chairman will be Buckinghamshire diary farmer Nigel Stacey who milks 180 cows in partnership with his wife Sarah. Both will serve a two-year term.

Mr Raymond said one of his first tasks as chairman would be to look ahead to the next five to 10 years and identify opportunities and challenges facing the industry.

“An important part of this will be building on the momentum that we have created with our contracts campaign, furthering our work on dedicated chains and generally striving to create the right environment for our members to be successful and profitable.”

Mr Stacey said: “I am extremely pleased to have the support of the board and look forward to working with Mansel as his vice chairman – I look forward to tackling the issues that matter to dairy farmers.”
