New treatment promises to break fly lifecycle

Manure heaps harbouring fly eggs and larvae will need alternate fly control options this summer in order to fight growing concerns of resistance.

According to Certis’ pest control specialist Helen Ainsworth, with recent product innovations, relying on fewer fly treatment options will increase the risk of pests building up resistance to treatments.

However, one solution is Dimilin. It provides a new approach to breaking the fly lifecycle and has no cross resistance to existing treatments, she said

Applied directly to the surface of organic matter, it is active against eggs and the developing larvae.
