Newark and Notts:Limousin cow takes champ title

Taking the beef championship title was show regulars Smiths of Bloxham with the cow and calf outfit Ironstone Dumandy. By Wilodge Vantastic and out of Bailea Umandy this four year old cow was interbreed champion at the show two years ago as a heifer and was also interbreed champion at the Royal Welsh Show last year.


This one was shown with a Teddy bull calf and will be heading to Herts County Show next.

In reserve was the South Devon cow and calf outfit from A and C Farm’s, of the Langham Herd, Rutland Trevassack Mayflower was reserve to the overall champion in the female section. This one was bought in and was originally bred by Hugh Lello, Devon. The outfit was shown by Jo Rodger with animals owned by her father A Vrona.

Judge John Jeffrey  from Kelso said both females had “style and length” with both a good example of their breeds. On the South Devon he said: “It’s good to get a cow looking so good when rearing a calf. Both are excellent examples of what we are looking for in the British beef industry.”
