Approximately 5,000 chickens have perished in a fire which broke out yesterday (24 June) on a poultry farm in Devon.
The alarm was raised at around 12.18pm and three fire engines were sent to tackle the blaze, at Ridgeway Farm, in Holcombe Rogus.
It took the 17-strong crew over two hours to control the fire and they were able to save one third of the shed.
A spokesman from Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service said no one had been injured in the incident.
It is believed the fire was caused accidently, by an electrical fault in the shed.
No investigation is expected to take place.
