Avian flu workshop aims to help farmers protect their flocks

With the wildfowl migration season now in full swing, how can you ensure your flock is fully protected from avian flu? That’s the aim of a free biosecurity event hosted by a Cornwall college.

The Rural Business School at Duchy College is hosting a free biosecurity workshop for poultry farmers on 29, 30 and 31 October.

“With the constant risk of disease faced by the farming sector, it is essential the industry provide suitable training for all those who face such a threat and poor bio-security practices are eliminated” explains Richard Soffe, head of the Rural Business School.

This event will feature a number of different speakers including Richard Turner of St Davids Veterinary Practice, Andy Hughes from Antec. Finally, John Moore a poultry farmer himself will show how to apply meaningful control measures on the farm in a practical situation.

Booking is essential, for more information or to book your place please contact the Rural Business School (0845 4587485).
