Taste challenge plan to boost British Turkey

British Turkey has plans to ensure turkey is high on consumer agendas this summer, rolling out its British Turkey Taste Challenge to regional county shows.

From June onwards, the I Love British Turkey sampling stand will be seen at a number of shows, starting with the Three Counties in Malvern, showcasing turkey’s taste, versatility and low fat credentials. Spaghetti Bolognese made with turkeymeat will be sampled at the shows, while chefs will be demonstrating how easy turkey is to barbecue.

“We know that sampling plays an important role in demonstrating and proving to consumers just how great turkey tastes,” said Lorna Cousins, chairman of the British Turkey Federation’s marketing committee. “This year we want to talk to consumers in a more relaxed environment and county shows are ideal.”

Consumption of turkey has grown 11.6% in volume year-on-year. Olympic silver medallist Gail Emms, celebrity TV chef Phil Vickery and renowned nutritionist Fiona Hunter will all be part of the effort to increase this further.
