Poultry companies reap awards

Poultry companies have been reaping a rich harvest of awards recently in recognition of the high quality of staff, products and businesses in the sector.

Oaklands Farm Eggs were given a special award at the Heart of England Fine Foods Diamond Awards, held at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole.

Nominated for three awards covering growth, innovation and excellence, the Shropshire company scooped all three in a one-off “special” award.

The HEFF Diamond Awards are into their fourth year and more than 230 products were entered for the 10 product categories, as well as individual companies.

In May, Oaklands Farm Eggs also picked up the Innovation award at the Pig and Poultry Marketing awards, while Gafoor Poultry won a Carcass Utilisation award and Kelly Turkeys won a Taste of Excellence award.

The Alltech-sponsored Poultry Producer of the Year went to Sunny Hill Eggs, with Copas Turkeys winning the Brand Identity category and vet Richard Turner winning a Knowledge Transfer award.

The Food Chain Marketing Award went to Bernard Matthews Farms for its Marco Pierre White range.
