RHS 2012: Limousin bull secures overall championship

2162012 RHS Limousin Champ.JPGLimousins continued on their winning streak at this year’s Royal Highland Show in Edinburgh when a Limousin bull was awarded the title of overall beef champion.

Hafodlas Domino was put forward by Doug Mash, Torrington Farm, Buckinghamshire.  This one  was bred by Alan Roberts in North Wales – he is by Bailea Spunkie and out of Hafodas Shona.
Today’s win follows on from taking the title of male champion at Newark. Mr Mash now plans to take him on to the East of England and Yorkshire shows.
2162012 RHS Sim Champ.JPGIn reserve was a Simmental cow with two calves at foot. Skerrington Rhona 21st was put forward by William Young from Skerrington Mains, Kilmarnock. By Sterling Nelson’s 2nd and out of Skerrington Rhona 14th, this homebred cow is a fifth-calver was reserve champion at the Scottish National Simmental Show.
Judge Jimmy McMillan from Brechin said: “My champion was a tremendous bull with a great loin on him – he looked really sweet as he was walking towards you. The Simmental was a tremendous cow with two great calves.”
