Salers enjoy robust demand at Perth

One of the less regular breeds at Perth, the Salers have enjoyed a robust trade, topping at 3800 for a black, polled bull from the Pye family’s Rigel herd.

Rigel Hubert Pye, by Rigel Othello and out of Havane sparked a flurry of activity before being knocked down. Immediately after the Pyes also sold Rigel Monty Pye, a Rigel Milan son to Mr Mackintosh of Stranraer, while the breed’s champion Cumbrian Cracker from Farmstock Genetics made 3000, also to Mr Mackintosh.

That concludes the action in the bull ring for today, but the Simmental females sell at 3pm so be sure to check back then for a trading update.
