Scottish Agricultural College student receives Lantra Award

Lantra has presented the HE Learner of the Year Award to Scottish Agricultural College (SAC) student Claire Convery.

Miss Convery received Lantra’s award after being nominated by SAC staff who were impressed with her enthusiasm and dedication.

With interests in equine studies, Miss Convery first attended Hartpury College, where she gained an HNC in Stud Management.

She later worked on a stud farm in Ireland, and at the renowned Watership Down Stud in Berkshire.

During her time on studs, Miss Convery became interested in animal welfare and decided to pursue a career in this field. And in 2005, she returned to Scotland and embarked on a HND in Agriculture at SAC’s Ayr campus.

Miss Convery said: “SAC has an excellent reputation and I knew that the agriculture course there would be my best option. I am so pleased that I joined the HND course as it has been really interesting.

“I am enjoying the course so much that I am continuing on to degree level. Through my learning I have become more interested in crops now and I would like to pursue a career as an agronomist or within crop product development for a retailer, the options are endless.”
