Shearling ewes in demand at Gisburn

Texel shearling ewes were in demand on Saturday at Gisburn, where trade peaked at £182 for a pen of 10 from Tim Jackson, Goosnargh, Preston. These sold to W A Warren, Cleckheaton, West Yorkshire.

Texel breeders Richard and Mark Ireland, Whalley, Clitheroe, Lancashire, had a successful day, with a run of 50 shearlings averaging £161. Topping their trade was the champion pen at £180

West Yorkshire vendor, Miss Hincliffe, sold her two pens of Texel shearlings both for £150 to Geordie Parker, Newton, Clitheroe, and Nicky Capstick, Bolton by Bowland, Clitheroe, Lancashire.

Best of the ewe lambs on offer was a £140 sale for a pen from Bernard Slater, Chipping, Preston. (Richard Turner and Son)
