Shorthorn bulls find few takers at Perth

A small show of Shorthorn bulls met a conservative bidding public at yesterday’s Perth bull sales, with a top of just 4000gns being achieved for Messrs Macadie’s May 2005-born bull Tornado of Skaillhouse.


Tornado is by Uppermill Farquharson and out of Lancaster Clara 4 of Skaillhouse, he sold to Scott Taylor. Second top was paid by Quality Meat Scotland chairman Donald Biggar for Neil Massie’s Blelack Dominator. Mr Biggar’s final bid was 3200gns for Canadian bred Dominator who is by Buffalo Lake Dustbuster and out of Saskvalley Myrtle.

This bid was equalled by Mr Mitchell of Tullymurdoch, Alyth when he claimed John Gibb’s March 2003-born senior bull Glenisla Vagabond. He is by Belmore Fuel Injected and out of homebred dam Glenisla Ruby.In at 3000gns was Mr Adams when he settled the final bid for Playfair Farms’ bull Tofts Tchaikovsky, the senior and overall Shorthorn champion. Tchaikovsky is sired by Groveland Puccini and out of bought-in dam Tugby Tessa. Born in June 2005 he was junior Beef Shorthorn champion at the Royal Highland Show this summer.
