Shorthorns triumph at inaugural native breed cattle sale

The inaugural native breed cattle sale at Skipton Auction Mart was a huge success with 126 head of native cattle presented for sale.

The sale, supported by supermarket chain Morrisons and Woodhead Bros Butchers of Colne, saw keen demand for Shorthorn cattle with a run of eight 17-month-old bullocks put forward by T & A J Swinbank, topping at £1,050 each.

Whild nine Shorthorn bullocks from Geoff Riby, Driffield, aged between 18 and 20 months old, peaked at £1,055 with an average of £916.
