Shottle son leads Borderway Holstein bull trade
A Picston Shottle son, Annandale Scintilate, from the Annandale herd of W J Armour, Moffat sold for the top price at yesterday’s show and sale of Holstein bulls at Borderway Mart, Carlisle.
Out of a dam from the Ada family first developed in the Gornal herd, Scintilate sold with a PLI of +168 to M J Wilson, Uldale, Wigton.
At 3000gns was the best of the day from Messrs K J and C S Wilson, Wood Farm Thursby. This one was Warnelview Casper, a September 2007-born son of Benner Jebadiah out of an EX94 ranked dam, Cewilpool Collona 5. He sold to W Meredith, Stichen, Aberdeen.
At 2900gns was British Friesian Blackisle Radiance from W R Mann and Sons, Avoch, Rossshire. This one is by Marshside Rocket 3 and out of Blackisle Bertha 11 and sold to J J Baxter, Beaumont, Carlisle.
Then just 100gns lower at 2800gns was Annandale Saturn from William Armour. By Sandy-Valley Bolton and out of Sterndale Convincer Miss America, a VG89 rated dam, Saturn sold to A Thom, Goosehill, Ayrshire.
And at 2500gns the reserve champion from the pre-sale show Evening Spice from Evening Hill Farm, Thursby sold to R and J Mitton, Whinney Mire Hall, Clap. This one is by Emerald-Acr-sa T-Derek and out of Warnelview Judge Sadie, an Ex90 dam.
