Shrewsbury Suffolks leading at 23,000gns
Today’s National Suffolk Sale at Shrewsbury is being headed at 23,000gns by a lamb from Chris Holmes’ Rookery flock (lot 33). This one is a Rhaeadr Obsession son out of a dam by Plasllewelyn Pittsburgh and has previously been breed and reserve interbreed at Three Counties this year. Robbie Wilson and Keith Hourston took a thrd share each in this one with Chris Holmes retaining the other third share.Second best so far is a 9000gns call for Gary Beacom’s best from the Lakeview flock. This is by Shannagh Shergar and is out of a dam by Strathisla Shadrach which was second at Balmoral this year. He sold to Ashley Bothwell.The shock of the morning though will be the price achieved by the pre-sale champion from Jimmy Douglas, Cairness. This Baileys Bacchus son is out of a dam by Cairness Renovator and sold for just 2000gns.
