Simmentals to 5500gns at Carlisle
Today’s sale of Simmentals at Carlisle may not have had the numbers forward that Borderway Mart will see for its major sales over the next three weeks, but that didn’t stop buyers paying strong prices for a quality entry.
Taking the top call was Hugo Arnold’s Hockenhull herd, Cheshire, with Hockenhull Wilfred. By homebred sire Hockenhull Red Rum which was sold at Perth in February for 6500gns, this one is out of Hockenhull Deborah and joins Braesteads Farm, Penrith
Next best was a 4500gns call for Messrs Leedham’s Grangewood Valantino. An AI son of Starline Klassik, Valentino is out of Grangewood Porshe and carries a TSI of +22 and an SRI of +20. He was bought by Messrs Graham, Canonbie, Dumfriesshire.
Also at 4500gns was another from Mr Arnold, Hockenhull Ventura. Again by Red Rum, this one is out of Blackford Harvester daughter Hockenhull Trudy 27 and sold with a TSI of +19 and an SRI of +22 to Elsington Estates, Alnwick.
And at 3700gns was yet another from Hockenhull, this time a Dirnanean Soloman son Hockenhull Warner. Out of a dam by Hockenhull Kojac, this one sold to Courance Simmentals, Courance, Lockerbie.
Among the females trade was led by the female and overall champion Midhope Temptation from W J Hollingsworth. This one is a Dyfed Lord daughter out of Midhope Lapwing and was snapped up by Messrs Warrren, Cleckheaton at 3800gns
Then at 2500gns Messrs Warren were investing again, this time in Grangewood Treasure from Messrs Leedham. she is by Grangewood Knockout and out of Grangewood Jasmine. And at 2400gns was Tillylair Sacha from Roger Birch. She is by Tillylair Lion and out of Tillylair Gladys and sold to John Holliday, Penrith, having been bred by I A Hunter.
