Simmentals top at 4300gns at Carlisle

Selling for the day’s top price of 4300gns at Carlisle’s sale of Simmentals on Friday was Astcote Auctioneer from S and C Evans. This one is a Blackford Hawk son out of Astcote Pride,a Cankern Titan daughter. He sold to R M Johnstone, Riding Mill, having been reserve champion in the pre-sale show.

Second best was a 4100gns sale for the same vendors when selling Astcote Atlas. Again by Blackford Hawk and this time out of Astcote Tango, an Agardsley Clinton daughter, he went to J and A Fisher, Newton Stewart.

Then making 3100gns was Chestermann Adam from the Gwynnes. This is a Blackford Ringleader son out of Chestermann Hale Bopp Rhiannon, a Chesterman Hale Bopp daughter. This one was bought by LKQ, Isle of Mann.

At the same money was Blackpool Angus from John Loftus. He is sired by Samark Superman and is out of Blackpool Peardrop, a Gretnahouse Jackofalltrades daughter. He was bought by Albert Henry, Castle Douglas.

In the females the top price was a 2000gns call for Pasturehouse Polly 2, a Blackpool Turbine daughter from J B and E J Peile. She is out of Pasturehouse Malteser’s Polly and sold to J G and S M Tallentire, Appleby.

Averages; 15 bulls £2327.50, three cows served and/or suckling £1238.80, three served heifers £1470, 10 maiden heifers £1129.80 (Harrison and Hetherington).
