Skipton dairy trade hits £2390

Leading dairy entries in both the pre-sale show and the sale itself at Skipton yesterday were father and son team Malcolm and Robert Swires, Harrogate, when they collected their fourth consecutive championship with a freshly calved cow and took the top call with another similar entry.

Top call of £2390 went to the family’s second prized entry which sold to Geodd Blezzard, Ribchester. Second best call came for the champion, a daughter of Semex sire Shoremar James, at £2150. This one sold to the judge David Hancock, Sandbach, Cheshire.

In the heifers top call of £2000 was given for the first prized heifer from Brian Moorhouse, Bell Busk by Wick Williams, Nantwich, Cheshire. Mr Moorhouse’s second prize entry made the same money when selling to Aubrey Greenhalgh, Preston.
