South Devons set new 10,500gns breed record

Today’s sale of South Devon’s at Exeter has seen a new breed record set at 10,500gns for Mutterton Ashton Bitter from A H and E M Bartley.

This February 2009-born bull is by Shorland Ashley and out of Mutterton Burnet 3, a Northwick General 8 daughter. He sold with a quality beef index of +36 and a suckler replacement index of +48 and includes polled lines on both his sire and dam side.

Following that at 8100gns was Polkinghorne Genpro, a February 2009-born son of Woodhayes Illya 2 from T H E Laity. He is out of Polkinghorne Grace 30, a Countisbury Cracker 2 daughter. He is an October 2008-born son of Highgate Hanover 2 out of Grove Buttercup 64, a Grove Hector 15 daughter. He went with a QBI of +24 and an SRI of +32 and had previously been breed champion at last year’s Royal Welsh Show as well as reserve male champion at Great Yorkshire.DSC_5257 Lot 3 8000gns.jpgSelling for 7500gns was the reserve overall champion and an F94L gene carrier Trewint Magnetto 4 from P S Rowe.
