South west Limousin sale realises 3,250gns top

The South Western Limousin Breeders Club Annual Show and Sale at the Bristol Sales Centre enjoyed a sound following and some keen spirited bidding culminating in a top price on the day of 3,250gns for Chytodden Fancyabull, a 3 ½ year old bull from Penhallow Farm who were dispersing their Grade Register and Commercial Limousins on the same day.

The bull, bred by G Hollow had been used extensively in the Ardevora herd and has sired many top quality progeny, he was secured by Messrs Cottle, Bath, Avon. That figure was closely followed at 3,000gns for a second prize winner in the preceding Show, a 3 year old bull Fleethill Farnham, by Wilodge Vantastic from MJ Gray and Son. The purchaser being JH Jenkins, Pontypridd, Mid Glamorgan.

The female section was well supported and topped at a creditable 2,700gns from Mrs DK Wheeler for her second prize cow Bapton Aster (bred by Bapton Manor Farm) with a spring born heifer calf at foot going to AS Ball, Bodmin, Cornwall. Messrs Greed were strong supporters of the sale and were well supported with 2,000gns for their female and Reserve Overall Champion Killerton Greta, an in calf heifer by Hafodlas Auron and out of a home bred cow by Lowabbey United, she was taken by DC Martin, Helston, Cornwall.

A second calving cow Stourhead Eleanor from H and JL Parker with a bull calf at foot by Loosebeare Eager was closely followed and was knocked down at 2,000gns to Coldbrook Farm, Barry, South Wales.
