Stirling Bull Sales 2012: Simmental sale

Interbreed Champion Kilbride Farm Comber 11 sold for 20,000gns  

I’m here by the ringside waiting for the females to start selling. Today we are just going to be covering the top prices, which will enable us to go into more detail about the animal.

The female trade has got off to a good start, with Lot 492 Corskie Brynne, from Mr J Green selling for 4,000gns.

Sired by Islavale Sabre, champion at RHS in 2010, she is out of Corskie Wren.

Champion female Woodhall Benadette, from Mr H Macaskill tops the female sale so far selling at 5,500gns.

Sired by Woodhall Volcano the 2-year-old is out of Woodhall Maree and is in-calf to Steinadler.

Next up Lot 513, a cow and calf forward from Mr A J Wilson. The four-year-old, sired by Annick Titan and out of Ravensworth Modesty is in calf to Bruchag Awesome 09. Together with her bull calf Cairnview Darby 12, again by Bruchag Awesome 09 they make 5,200gns.

That’s the end of the females, now the bulls are about to start.

So far topping the bull sale is Lot 519 Newbiemains Boston 10, sired by Kilbred Farm Rainmain and from Jim and Patricia Goldie.  The hammer fell at 10,000gns.

TheDecember 2010-born bull was placed first in his class. He is sired by Kilbride Farm Rainman and out of DirnaneanVirginia V16. He has a TSI of +67 and a SRI of +70.

Lot 524 Banwy Captain, from RE Jones and sired by Banwy T-Rex sells for 5,000gns.

Lot 527,
Corskie Connan 11, which was second in his class sells for 9,000gns. Exibited by Mr J Green he is sired by Ballinalare Farm Nightrider and isout of Corskie Tori and has a TSI of +67 and a SRI of +70.

Lot 30 Drumsleed Chevrolet, from Mr G W Smith sells for 6,000gns. Sired by Cairnview Snazzy he is out of Cloneygowan Temptress Posh.

Lot 536 Starline Countryman 11, senior champion, sells for 7,000gns. Forward from R H Widdicombe he is sired by Slievenagh Talisman and is out of Starline Lorette. He has a TSI of +91 and a SRI of +83.

Lot 552 Beetley Cooperman, from S D Abram Farms, who was third in his class at Stirling sells for 5,000gns. Sired by Cairnview Snazzy he was placed 1st in the junior and interbreed reserve junior bull at the English Simmental National Show and is in the top 5% for weight figures.

Lot 556 Team Celtic, from Mr R J MacGregor sells for 11,000gns. Sired by Auchorachan Winger, he is out of team Kiwi.

Next is the sale of the Intermediate and Reserve. Can they beat the top price so far of 11,000gns made by Team Celtic?

Lot 585 and Interbreed Champion Kilbride Farm Comber 11 smashes the top price so far at 20,000gns selling in conjunction with breed company Cogent. The 19-month-old is a Cairnview Snazzy son from W H Robson and sons, Kilbride Farm, Doagh, Ballyclare. Snazzy was purchased for 15,000 gns and has had almost 30 sons averaging more than 6,000gns at Stirling.


In reserve K C Veitch’s Drumlone Convoy 11 (Lot 604), from K C Veitch, of Drumlone, Lisbellaw sells at 6000gns. He is sired by Omorga Volvo and is out of Cletic Nightingale, with a TSI of +75 and a SRI of +90.


Delfur Chas 11 (lot 586) – a Delfur Willie Wonka son takes the golden ticket at 10,000gns. This March 2011 born bull from Delfur farms has a TSI of +92 and a SRI of +86.


Then at 8,500gns it’s Auchorachan Cracker 11 (Lot 589), from D and R Durno and Sons. He is a Saltire Talent son and was reserve breed champion at Turiff and Grantown Shows. Talent sired Auchorachan Wizard, which sold for 20,000gns. He has a TSI of +80 and a SRI of +83.


Islavale Cracker 11 (Lot 594) from Mr W S Stronach sells for 8,500gns. This is is Glenturk Premier son, out of Islavale Rula and has a TSI and SRI of +72.


Going for 7,000gns is Lot 595, Dirnanean Cadet 11. A Dirnanean Telstar son, out of Hockenhull Girlei 13th, this polled bull has a TSI of +65 and a SRI of +70.


Mr and Mrs P B and J A Borlase’s Sacombe Class Act 11 (Lot 597) goes for 8,000gns. He is a Grangewood William son, out of Sacombe Tamara-Alfa.


Ian Green, Livestock Farmer Focus writer sells Corskie Callum 11 (Lot 601) for 18,000gns. A Ballinalare Farm Nightrider son, he is out of Corskie Furst. Bulls by Nightrider have sold to 10,000gns at Stirling and heifers to 7,300gns at the first leading ladies sale at Carlisle August 2012.


The Junior champion is secured for 8,500gns. Auchorachan Captain 11 (Lot 613), a Saltire Talent son, out of Auchorachan Twinkle has a TSI of +67 and a SRI of +74. His grandma, Auchorachan Polly is the dam of Auchorachan ACDC which sold for 12,000gns.


Drumsleed Calgary 11 (Lot 615) then goes for 9,000gns. Heading to Orkney, this one is a Auroch Ace son, out of Drumsleed Misty. He has a TSI of +58 and a SRI of +56.


Bel Dhu Crusader 11 (Lot 616) from Anne Macpherson is another selling for 8,000gns. He is a Curlieu Knight son, out of Blackford Parvelle and has a TSI of +56 and a SRI of +61.


Drmsleed Cairo 11(Lot 622) hits 10,000gns. This Ashland Perfect son is out of Drumsleed Viona and has a TSI of +85 and a SRI of +84.


At 7,200gns iss Jaw Chieftain 11 from John Maxwell (Lot 623). By Omorga Volvo and out of Skerrington Carna he has a TSI of +83 and a SRI of +91.


Hitting 12,000gns is Islavale Champ 11 (Lot 630) from Mr W S Stronach. With a TSI of +55 and a SRI of +59 he is a Glenturk Premier son and out of Raceview Viva.


Bidding climbs quickly for Annick Capercaillie 11 (Lot 637)from L D Quarm and eventually hits 16,000gns. A Cairnview Snazzy son, out of Annick Duchess, he has a TSI of +77 and a SRI of +84.


Auchorachan Cyclone 11 (Lot 640) from D and R Durno and Sons sells for 7,500gns. He is by Clonagh Tiger Gallant and has a TSI of +68 and a SRI of +70.




 The Simmental trade average was up nearly £1,000 on the same sale last year with 81 sold to average £5,806 (73% clearance). This compares to 108 sold last October averaging £4,841.


The 20,000gns top is also only 2,000gns off the current record breed average of 22,000gns.
