STIRLING BULL SALES: Charolais top 26,000gns

Topping trade for Charolais bulls on the final day of Stirling bull sales was Maerdy Hearthrob from DE Evans, Mold, North Wales, which sold for 26,000gns.

 

Sired by the Vald-or-ra son Maerdy Dynamite he is out of the homebred dam Maerdy Beauty, who won interbreed champion at the Royal Welsh show.

Vald-or-ra breeding also featured in the bloodlines of the second best priced lot and champion Maerdy Hasse from the same stable. He is sired by Darkvador and is out of the Vald-or-ra daughter Maerdy Dredge and sold for 25,000gns.

The win cemented the eighth championship win for Mr Evans, who now holds the record for the Charolais breed.

Back with the Scottish vendors with a bid of 22,000gns was Lochend Hickory from Messrs Millar, Port of Menteith.

He is sired by Mortimers Echo and is out of Lochend Uptowngirl.

Next best at 17,000gns was Sandelford Harrison from Mr G Henderson.

Sired by Goldies Usher he is out of Sandelford Seles.

Back with the Maerdy consignment and taking a bid of 15,000gns was the Maerdy Dynamite son Maerdy Hwre, out of Maerdy Drat.
