Store lambs in demand at Skipton

Store lambs were in demand at Skipton Mart last week resulting in a good trade for the 2421 lambs on offer and total clearance. Lambs may have been smaller on the year but the price wasn’t with the overall average of £53.53 nearly £3 up on the year.

Leading trade were Suffolk cross lambs which sold to £64 for J B Taylor, Diggle. Texel crossed topped at £60 for J W Hall, Darnbrook, with Charollais crosses to £52.50 for J Whitton, Flookburgh and Beletx crosses to £52 for J Sugden, Laycock.

Averages : Suffolk x £53.40; Texel x £53.72; Charollais x £50.12.
