Strong entry for Thainstone spectacular

Once again this year’s Thainstone Spectacular show and sale of show calves has attracted a high quality entry from the north-easts leading calf breeders.

Having produced and sold last year’s Smithfield champion at the sale Andrew Anderson, Smallburn Farms, will doubtless turn out another quality string, with a total of 17 entered. These include the Turriff and Echt show champion Hanky Panky, an October 2009-born Limousin cross steer. He is full brother to last year’s Smithfield champion.Smallburn 502487.jpgAndrew is also offering Pandora, a November 2009-born Limousin cross heifer which was champion at Black Isle and reserve interbreed at the same event.

Barry Paterson, Cairndaie Croft, has a brace entered which have also been highly successful out and about this summer. Firstly comes Joy Division, a February-born Limousin cross heifer which was reserve calf champion at Fettercairn, reserve champion at Echt and calf champion and female champion at New Deer, as well as being crossbred champion and reserve overall at the same show.
