Last week’s sale of all three types of Galloway cattle – Belted, Dun and White – saw the Belties dominate with a top call of 3800gns for the reserve champion from their pre-sale show.
This was the rising two year old heifer, Ballylouggh Dainty 3 from Richard Creith, Bushmills. She sold to C A W Godfrey, Cator Court, Widecombe-in-the-Moor.
Next best was the champion on the day, Barwise Jenga from Carolyn Fletcher, Cumbria. This July 2007-born bull sold to A Thom, Creetown.
Then at 3300gns came when Howiemill Estate, Ramsburgh, bought February 2008-born heifer Huntfield Letty from J and Z Kirk, Auldgirth, Dumfries.
Leading the dun Galloways was a 2100gns call for a cow and calf from Peter Hunter Blair, Dalry. This was paid for Countess Opal by J Fairlie, Logiealmond, Perth.
And the White Galloways were led at 2000gns for the pre-sale champion from G and K Gilligan, High Creoch, Gatehouse of Fleet. This one was High Creoch Dusty 2. The reserve champion, bulling heifer Meelkridge Winter, from J C Oliver, Haltwhistle, made 1500gns.
