Strong Limousin entry for Carlisle June sale

This Friday’s sale of Limousins at Carlisle has produced a strong entry for an out of season sale, with a total of 120 head catalogued for sale.

Among the bulls there are some potentially interesting lots early in the sale with the Pennie family bringing out a brace of Vivaldi sons out of dams by Cannon on the shape of Sarkley Critic and Sarkley Chieftan. These two July 2007-born bulls should be worth a look, as should another from Sarkley, Chivalrous. He’s also by Vivaldi and is out of a Ronick Gains daughter which is maternal sister to 11,000gns Sarkley Topknot.

Anyone looking for figures can’t fail to spot Rombalds Drummer. This one has a beef value of +38 and a muscle depth figure of +5.7, while also combining well known bloodlines, being by Dauphin and out of Djerk daughter Rombalds Violet which goes back to Hawk. And another with figures on his side is Carrickaldreen Dynamite. This one is Mas Du Clo and out of Bernattin Parrot, a Genial daughter. He’s got a beef value of +35 and a muscle depth figure of +7.4.

Messrs Ridley, Haltcliffe, also have a few in, including Cloughhead Umpire sons and no doubt these could be in demand from the commercial men ringside.

I’ve not had a chance to study the females properly, so shan’t delve into them too deeply, but at first glance there’s plenty of good bloodlines on offer, including most of the breed’s best known sires.
