Strong sheep trade continues
McCartney’s of Kington reported a good entry of 2300 sheep with lambs selling to an excellent trade. Lambs between 38kg and 43 kg were again sort after with these lambs averaging an incredable 2.00ppk. Heavier lambs over 44kg averaged 1.96ppk with lambs between 48kg and 55kg averaged 190ppk.
We had a good entry of 2000 lambs and more could have been sold to advantage.
The whole market averaged 198.69ppk up to 210ppk. The lambs sold to ÂŁ99.20 for some 52kg lambs from SI Rogers
Some 38kg lambs from J Bufton & Sons made ÂŁ77.80, 39kg lambs from AM Williams made ÂŁ80, 41kg lambs from AJS & SC Hughes made ÂŁ83.70, 42kg lambs from PM & JA Jones made ÂŁ86.10, 46kg lambs from DR Williams & Son made ÂŁ92, 49kg lambs from MP & RC Edwards made ÂŁ93.50, 52kg lambs from SI Rogers made ÂŁ99.20
There was a good entry of 300 cull ewes selling to an excellent due to the shortages of numbers nationally. The ewes sold to a top of ÂŁ116 for and to average ÂŁ78.90 per ewe. Tups sold to good trade with a top of ÂŁ117 and to average ÂŁ88 per head, The cull ewes included a large proportion of thinner mule ewes and smaller hill ewes.
