Successful store trade at Bishop Castle

Three commercial steer topped the £1000 mark with several also exceeding £900 at a successful prize sale of 750 store cattle at Bishop Castle Auction, attracting buyers from across the country.


Topping the sale at £1100 was a 575kg Limousin from A and J Speke, Woodbach. Overall steers averaged £732 a head and 163.4p/kg.


Heifers peaked at £810 for two 435kg Limousin and 194.8p/kg for two 385kg Limousin for £750 both consigned by S H Hillage and Sons, Whittingslow.


There was also strong competition with the Tom Gittins cup at stake, but the silverware was awarded to S J C Morris and Sons, Whitcott for the best steers.
