Suffolk females top at 5,500gns at Beeston

Lighting up the sale ring at Beeston’s annual show and sale of pedigree females and setting a record price of 5,500gns for the venue was a gimmer ewe from Jimmy Douglas’ Cairness Flock, Fraserburgh, Aberdeenshire. This daughter of Rhaeadr Roger Ramjet. She sold in-lamb to Bailey’s Rock Solid and headed home with Brian Jones for his Thurston flock, Cumbria.

Next best at 3,100gns was a one-crop ewe by Stockton Barbarian, from Stuart Davies’ Beaufort flock, south Shropshire. She sold in-lamb to Mike Davies and Sons, Brecon

Jimmy Douglas earned 2,100gns when selling his third-prize gimmer by Whitestone Footprint and in-lamb with twins by the 21,000gns Cairness Great Expectations. The successful bidder was Robin Irwin, Umberleigh, Devon.

Gary Owen, Anglesey, secured John Gibb’s second prize gimmer by Thruston Grand Dynamic for 1,700gns from his Cairnton flock, Aberdeenshire. She sold in-lamb to Glenhead Titanium.

Judge Gary Beacom, from the Lakeview flock, NI, awarded the day’s championship to a gimmer ewe from Stuart Davies’ Beaufort flock, south Shropshire. Mr Davies also took reserve with a ewe by Conveth The Jack Pot.

This daughter of Rhaeadr Roberto sold in-lamb to Rookery Rooney with triplets for 1,200gns to JM Jones, Llanon, Ceredigion.
