SW Limousin club sale tops at 6600gns

Although not quite as expensive as last week’s Sarkely Limousin sale at Carlisle, the South West Limousin Cattle Breeders Club put forward a good line up for their show and sale, which topped at 6600gns with an “almost” clearance.

The sale topper went to Matt Brunton’s two year old heifer he has been showing this summer, Sheelin Anne. The Grahams Unbeatable-sired heifer out of one of the herd’s most prolific breeders Sheelin Jan, sold to Carolyn Runnalls, Newton Abbott.

Second top came from Nick and Lisa Hill, with a call of 5400gns for their show cow Sloughpool Tasmine, a Strathallan Diplomat daughter born in 2002. She now joins the herd of Paul Cairns and Helen Burton, Notts.

Nick Hill’s bull Quaish Aviator, sired by Sarkely Upmarket and out of Eden Lily, took the overall male championship and sold to messrs Spears and Quinney for 2000gns.

They also took the junior championship with Quaish Bronte, sold for 2350gns to Richard Harris, Derby.

From the Exmoor dispersal of Bill White, Exmoor Vibrato, a Sympa daughter with a breeding value of LM32 topped at 3200gns, selling to D Collins, Northants.
