Texels hit 16,000gns at Carlisle Christmas Stars sale

A brace of gimmers from the Strathbogie flock of Jim Innes were the shining lights at the Christmas Stars sale of in-lamb Texels on Saturday (2 December).

Topping trade at 16,000gns was a gimmer by Glenside Wild Boy and out of a dam by Scholars Twenty Twelve. She sold in lamb to the 32,000gns Mullan Armani and was the pick of Charlie Boden for his Sportsmans flock, Stockport.

Mr Boden then paid 12,000gns for the day’s second top-priced lot, again from the Strathbogie pen. This was IJS1600706. An ET-bred daughter of Millars Windbrook, she is out of a dam by Clinterty Par One and again sold having been served by Mullan Armani.

Altogether the Innes family sold 13 gimmers to average more than £3,500.

The next two top prices saw Mr Boden recoup some of his earlier investment, selling both at 8,000gns. The first was BGS1602172, a Mellor Vale Wildcat daughter out of a Tullylagan Tonka daughter. She sold having been served by the 70,000gns Teiglum Young Gun and joined Robert Evans’ Hope Valley flock, Shrewsbury.
