Telephone bid secures Longhorn bid at 2300gns
A telephone call to auctioneers Greenslade Taylor Hunt in Taunton, Somerset, from a breeder in Scotland secured the day’s highest priced animal at the recent Longhorn Breeders Production Sale.
Robert Gunn of Caithness secured Sid Hollier’s much admired two-year old bull Long Ash Fruit, by Long Ash Captain and out of a Culcombe dam, for 2300gns.
Topping the in-calf heifers was Ian & Lyn Kett’s Quantock Ffion by Fishwick Ulysses that is due in spring to Bemborough Crown that made 1100gns. Maiden heifers topped at 680gns for another entry from Mr Hollier for Long Ash Gingham.
Averages: In calf heifers £962.50; Maiden heifers £560 (Greenslade Taylor Hunt).
