Texel Factor ewes hit 1200gns for Drinkstone’s best

A bid of 1200gns led in-lamb ewe trade at last week’s Texel Factor Sale at Carlisle and secured an East Middle Le Coq D’Or daughter from Arnold and John Park’s Drinkstone flock.

This one sold in lamb to homebred tup Drinkstone Oates and is out of a dam by Handbank Jack the Lad. This one was bought by D M and S Prince, Chesterfield, Derbyshire.

The next top call was a 950gns bid for the top choice among the Alwent draft from the Nesbitt family, Northumberland. Taking this call was a daughter of 6000gns sire Alwent Matt out of a homebred dam by Haddo Kingpin. Taking this one home were Messrs Mallaber, Drakelow, Staffordshire.

And another Alwent entry took the day’s next best price of 900gns when Messrs Weston, Buxton, Derbyshire, bought an Alwent Major Force daughter out of a dam by 23,000gns sire Arkle Jaguar. This one sold in lamb to Sportsman’s Ocean.

Also at that money was another from Alwent by Major Force, but this time out of a dam by Turin Hardy. With an ET brother selling for 7000gns at Lanark, this one went home with Suffolk breeder Stephen Cobbold, Acton, Suffolk.

Mr Cobbold paid the next best again, taking another from Alwent at 850gns. A full ET sister to his previous purchase, this one is also in-lamb to Ocean.
