The inaugural Winter Warmers multibreed sale of in-lamb ewes at Newark saw a solid trade throughout, with demand strong for all breeds on offer.
Leading trade with a call of 700gns was a Suffolk ewe lamb from Tina Blythe. This was LCD:14:00694, a daughter of Lindum Silverstone out of a dam by Norman Rockstar which was placed third at the Royal Norfolk earlier this year. She sold to Roy Bowring, Edwinstowe, Nottinghamshire.
Tina Blythe also took the day’s third best call of 640gns for a same-way bred ewe lamb, which was also purchased by Mr Bowring.
Second best call of the day at 680gns was a Texel shearling ewe from the Chave family’s Peacehay flock, Somerset. This was CFP1300732, a Douganhill Lonestar daughter out of a dam by Cennen Magnum and carrying to Peacehay Untouchable. She sold to Philip Weaver, Caunton, Newwark.
Second best of the Texels at 620gns was the very next lot from the Chaves, CFP 1300790. This Skeeoch Tardis daughter is out of a Douganhill Lonestar daughter and sold in-lamb to Caebetran Trojan. She headed to Wisbech, Cambridgeshire, with PA Pollyn.
Then at the same money was a ewe lamb from the Ashley family’s Lincs flock. This was AHL1400767, a Sportsmans UFO daughter out of a dam by another Sportsmans sire. She sold to Steve Smith for his Pen Parc flock, Welshpool.
Then at 600gns was a Beltex ewe lamb from Andrew and Becky Bishop. This one is by an imported sire and out of a dam by Luggsmill Nye. She sold to S Marsh, Gustin, Dover.
Three lots sold for 500gns. First was another in-lamb gimmer from the Chaves, CFP 1200805. Sired by Sheeoch Tardis she is out of a Lyonshall King of Clubs daughter and is in-lamb to Peacehay Untouchable. This one sold to previous buyer P A Pollyn.
Also selling at 500gns was a pair of Charollais ewe lambs from the Tina Blythe, with the first of these being YDG1400657, a Kelby Nero daughter out of a dam by Lincs Jack Daniels. She sold to M Kellet, Northampton.
The second at this money was another Kelby Nero daughter, YDG1400656, a ewe lambs out of a Rhaeadr King daughter. She sold to Robin Kellet, Northampton.
