Bidding hit a high of 5,800gns at the Brijon Texel flock sale at Carlisle on behalf of Messrs Redhead and Watson, from Berwick-upon-Tweed, this week (Jan 13).
The day’s top price was earned by the gimmer REW1203145 sired by Caereinion Regis and out of a homebred dam by Brijon Kracker. She sold in lamb to Brackenridge Strongbow and headed home with EJ and A Fox, Wooler, Northumberland.
Second best with a call 5,400gns was the Midlock Pavarotti daughter REW1203220. Born in March 2012 she is out of a Langside Opinion daughter and sold in lamb to Brackenridge Strongbow. Purchaser was M Dent, Bishop Auckland, Co Durham.
Next at 5,000gns was the gimmer REW1203177, again sired by Midlock Pavarotti but out of a Croft Lexus daughter. She sold to Proctors Farm, Clitheroe, Lancashire, due to Brackenridge Strongbow.
Selling for 4,600gns to WN Douglas, Yarrow, Selkirk, was the Caereinion Regis daughter REW1203294, out of a College Oz daughter. She is due in March to Brackenridge Strongbow.
Fifth highest priced female at 4,300gns was the Grey Peel Rambo daughter REW1203187 out of a Langside Opinion dam. She sold in-lamb to Loosebeare Oh Ewe Star and headed home with Proctors Farm.
On the same day gimmers from Neil S Crighton’s Tweed flock realised a top call of 1,800gns for a Teviot Rocket daughter and of a Grougfoot O-Ya-Dancer dam. She sold in lamb to Langside Rolex and with an index of 321 to Orr Farm, Dunfermline, Fife.
At the same money and joining DM and S Prince, Chesterfield, Derbyshire, was CNT1200557. Sired by the homebred tup and out of a Tweed President dam. She sold in lamb to Langside Rolex with an index of 360.
Two lots sold for 1,500gns. The first of these was a Rolex daughter out of a homebred ewe. She sold in-lamb to Rocket and with an index of 376. Buyers were the Prince family.
At the same money was a Teviot Rocket-sired gimmer out of a Tweed Odyssey dam. She was purchased by A and Watson, Cockermouth, Cumbria, in-lamb to Rolex and with an index of 389.
Averages: 68 shearling gimmers from the Brijon flock, £1,394.65; 68 shearling gimmers form the Tweed flock, £520.21.
