The protection zone now extends further in to Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire (see map).

The infected animals were found as a result of pre-movement testing currently required to move animals out of zones in the vector-free period.

All evidence suggests that these animals were infected before the vector-free period commenced.

DEFRA expects further cases to emerge through pre-movement testing before the vector free period ends at midnight on the 15 March.
