The UK Jerseys Society has signed a Livestock and Embryo Marketing Agency agreement with Kivells auctioneers where Mark Davis will lead the Jersey programme.
For some time UK Jerseys has been seeking the appropriate means of providing a more professional service for breeders than their in-house ‘Stockshop’ offers. Mark Davis is widely known and is regularly seen at auctions buying for his own Rivermead pedigree Jersey herd, as well as for clients.
Commenting on the agreement, Charles Reader, UK Jerseys chairman, said: “The demand for Jersey stock is growing, both at home and for overseas. Making sure we extract maximum value on behalf of breeders is a major objective. As more farmers seek to buy direct from farm, so the need for expert advice in valuation becomes more important. With Kivells we have the benefit of Mark Davis’ enthusiasm and knowledge of the breed.
“Clearly this does not detract from the sterling work carried out on behalf of the breed by a number of livestock auctioneers around the country, and the Society will continue to support all their sales.”
