Wedderlie takes overall Angus championship

Having fought off some strong competition Berwickshire-based Jenny Campbell and Marion and John Tilson’s junior champion Wedderlie Blackdown has taken the overall male champiopnship in the Aberdeen-Angus section at the Perth Bull Sales.

Blackdown may have been badly behaved in the ring, but Angus judge Donald Biggar stayed with this young bull throughout.

Sired by Coldstream Bonnie Doon from the family of the renowned Knights Blackbird line, the August 2008 born bull has a terminal sire index of +22 and a milk figure of +13. Standing reserve to him was the second prize bull from Gordon Gray, Selkirk. Having followed Blackdown through all of the judging, Ettrick Katmandu soon filled the reserve overall spot.

Homebred on both sides, he goes back to Wedderlie breeding on both the sire and dam sides, making almost a double for the Tilson family.
