Welsh Blacks hit 3400gns at Llandovery

Trade for Welsh Blacks at Llandovery last Friday reached a top of 3400gns for the champion bull from the pre-sale show. This one was Dancoed Cymro 24 from Gwynfryn Phillips, Abergwaun, Pembrokeshire.

Sired by Dancoed Cymro 13 and out of Dancoed Mair 3, he sold to Richard Evans-Bevan, Bronllys, Brecon.

FW Welsh Black Show Sale oct 09 champ 10.jpgSecond top call of the day was a 3500gns bid for Llainshed Errddyn 6, from Richard and Debbie Cumming, Cynwyl Elfed, Carmarthenshire. This is a Chwaen Erddyn 138 son out of Medip Memi 3 and sold to H and S Lloyd, Henllan, Ceredigion.

Top call in the females on offer was a 1600gns sale for second calver Dyfnant Dawn from D Glyn Thomas, Llangadog. Sold with her heifer calf at foot, she is by Machreth Cai 7 and was bought by Messrs Williams, Cwmcamlais, Brecon, having run with Neuadd Hebog 185.

At 1500gns was Neuadd Ethel from D William Jenkins, Machynlleth. This is a Graig-goch Gerwyn 16 daughter out of Neuadd Ethel 199 and sold to John Price and Son, Llanadog.

And making 1450gns was three year old first calved heifer Dyfnant Menna 6 from Mr Thomas. She is by Machreth Cai 7 and sold to G Thomas, Carmarthenshire.

Averages; four bulls £2268, 22 females three years old and over £795.90, 20 females 2-3 years old £1087.80, 21 females 1-2 years old £765.45 (Clee Tomknison and Francis).
