Western Holsteins hit 2700gns top
Trade at last week’s Western Holstein Club show and sale at Beeston drew buyers from across the UK, with cattle sold as far afield as Angus, Befordshire and Carmarthenshire.
Leading the sale on the day were two entries, the first of which was Hawksmoor Amelia 15 from Robert Clare, Adderley, Market Drayton. This fresh calved heifer by Roylane Jordan sold to Robbie Bell, Knutsford.
The second to change hands at this level was the champion heifer from Ray Brown, Bidlea TG Peach, a daughter of Tegibby Gibson giving 36.8kg a day. This one joined Hywel Evans, Llansilin, Oswestry.
The second top call of 2600gns was also shared by two animals, with Ingram R Gibson Lana, a Silky Gibson daughter from Jonathan Deane of Norwich. This one sold to Graham Pierce, Chester, for his Milwr herd.
The other at this money was another from Rob Clare, Hawksmoor Topee 61. This one is a daughter of homebred stock bull Hawksmoor Roman and sold to Richard Thomas, Croesyceiliog, Carmarthern.
At 2550gns, the Taylor brothers, Shrewsbury, sold Stokehall Chance 49 again to Mr Thomas. The Taylors also sold the next best, Burnbrae Breakout Liesa to F and N Brunt and Sons, Stone.
