Western Holsteins top at 4000gns

The Western Holstein Club’s Monthly Show and Sale of fresh cows and calved heifers attracted an entry of 104 head for its February Sale last week.

 

The top price of the day went to the first prize cow from Graham Wallace, Goostrey, Middlewich. This fourth calver is by Comestar Stormatic and is the eleventh generation of cows classified Excellent. She is a member of the noted Rhapsody family which originates from Pinehurst in the USA. She sold open giving 47 kg/day for 4000gns to Richard Gay for his Walkabout herd, Axminster, Devon. A daughter of this cow by Braedale Goldwyn born in June 2008 made 2200gns selling to Hefin George, Haverfordwest.

 

Next in the price list was the Champion female, Rowarton Carisma Orchid a September 07 daughter of Dupasquier Carisma bred from four generations of Very Good or Excellent dams from the noted Wiseburrow Orchid family. She sold giving 35 kg and realised to 3000gns to Jimmy Hull and Sons, Andrew and Leslie, for their Fortland herd, Preston.  

 

Next in line was Sternmoor Outside Ethel 5th ET from Michael and Caroline Wainwright, Buxton. By Comestar Outside, she is bred from seven generations of cows classified Excellent and was sold for 2800gns to WJ and J Evans, Haverfordwest. At just 100gns less was the Reseve Champion, Tameside Emblem 19th from Enchanted Holsteins; this daughter of Far-o-la Debbie-Jo Drake sold for 2700gns to Rob Bell, Knutsford.
