Worcester Berrichons sell to 830gns peak

Berrichon females topped at 830gns at Worcester on Saturday at the Best of the Berrichons sale, with Robert and Jean Graham’s Strathallan flock dominating proceedings.

Top call was a shearling ewe which had been first prize ewe lamb at last year’s Royal Highland Show. She sold to B Ellis-Jones, Abergele. Ewe from Strathallan Flock (2).jpgAnother from the same home and carrying twins to Newark Knockout sold at 680gns to N Charlton, Northallerton, while another shearling from the Grahams made 660gns when bought by N Gardner, Shipston On Stour.

Selling at 590gns was a shearling ewe from Malcolm Yeo’s Swincombe flock. In lamb to this year’s Royal Welsh breed champion she was bought by J Yeo, Branunton, Devon. Best for the Woodston Manor Partnership was a 560gns bid for a shearling carrying twins to Woodston Jackers. This sold to J Yeo.

Averages; six Strathallan shearling ewes ÂŁ661.50, 17 Swincombe shearling ewes ÂŁ351.44, 13 Woodston shearling ewes ÂŁ406.50 (McCartneys).
