Agritechnica 09: CNH show ABS system and clever SuperSteer function

High-speed tractors inevitably need high-speed brakes, and New Holland and Case IH says they have developed just that.

Fitting ABS to tractors isn’t quite as simple as to cars because of the numerous heavy-duty attachments, but NH says that by using a novel conversion system, compressed air can still be used to operate hydraulic braking equipment on each wheel.

A clever addition to ABS is the SuperSteer function, which uses ABS technology to manage each brake individually.

Two pedal extensions either side of the pedal replace the usual dual arrangement, and at low speed drivers get the same result as stamping on the left-foot brake to get round tight corners.
