Valtra has for some time offered reverse drive as an option on its larger tractors. But now, it’s a whole lot more responsive and simpler, say the Fins, thanks to steer-by-wire.

 As usual, there’s a second, smaller steering wheel located to the rear of the tractor alongside a shuttle and floor-mounted pedals.

Simply lift the catch on the left-hand side and swivel the chair, and the multifunction armrest travels with you.

But the big difference is that the S Series uses a nifty orbitrol valve that responds to electronic signals, meaning there’s no need to for a separate steering valve or hydraulic pipe work, either.
