Combines move into stubble turnip seed
While the main harvest is still a month away, some crops have already been cut.
Nicholas Watts at Vine House Farm, Deeping St Nicholas, Spalding, says he combined his crop of organic stubble turnip seed on Monday.
It’s one of only two organic stubble turnip crops grown in the UK this year and yielded about 1.2t/ha (10 cwt/acre). The seed will be sold to other organic farmers to provide livestock feed next winter.
If you have any early harvesting photographs you can share them with Farmers Weekly by emailing them to fwfarmlife@rbi.co.uk. Please include a few details about where the picture was taken and the crop being harvested.
