JCB 403 Agri mini wheeled loader targets pig and poultry units

As it works through a programme of improvements for the big models in its wheeled loader range, JCB is shifting attention to the opposite end of the performance scale with the new 403 Agri mini wheeled loader.

Designed for cleaning out and loading duties on pig and poultry units, dairy farms, plant nurseries and equestrian centre, the newcomer stands less than 2.2m tall, even when fitted with a cab, and on narrow tyres is only 1.1m wide.

Load capacity is rated at 0.3cu m using a standard bucket, with parallel lift and a load-over height of 2.6m that can be extended to 2.8m with the high-lift arms option for stacking and loading into tall bins or trailers.

Two-speed hydrostatic drive connects the 35.5hp Kubota diesel engine to heavy-duty drive axles, with fine-speed control and 92Nm of torque available in “low” for digging into materials, and acceleration to a top speed of 20kph – or 30kph as an option in “high”.

Manually engaged diff locks front and rear can be added for maximum traction and JCB claims predictable steering characteristics, a tight turning circle and accurate load placement thanks to the articulated chassis steering.

Hydraulic attachment locking pins, joystick control of the hydraulics and transmission, and brake pedal inching to avoid excessive brake wear are also part of the package.
